What I’ve been up to & a Network story (John’s 4th line being a 4th line)
Well, for the last 3 weeks or so, I’ve been up to something unexpected.
Maybe you caught the short video I posted on DBAy about me trying DoorDash as a driver or maybe you didn’t, but yeah, I’ve basically caught a DoorDash bug.
[DoorDash is a delivery app that mostly matches people with the food they want most in the moment and someone to get it to them]
My body just keeps saying yes to it 🤷🏻♀️ (although this morning it is having a relax vs the other mornings till now it’s been, roll out of bed, where’s my car keys) 🙃
There’s lots of ‘reasons’ I can see it suits my Design pretty perfectly, with a couple less than ideal details - I can maybe elaborate in another post or video if there’s interest in that.
Trust me when I say I’m completely surprised over here 🙋🏻♀️ that I keep getting up and going 🤭
Meanwhile, I have a cool “boy is John a 4th line and I am so not” story to share. And it’s only come to be because of DoorDash and my car not being all the way ready for it.
I’ve been putting a lot of miles on my nearly antique, but relatively low miles Toyota Echo. It was my stepmother’s (she drove it maybe a mile to work and to the grocery) and they gave it to me when she got a new one - this was maybe 4 years ago.
And it had arrived with a front end hub noise that was annoying but not problematic enough to fix because I too only used it to go to the grocery for the most part.
That changed 3 weeks ago. And now all the little maintenance things are ready for attention (can’t remember when the oil was last changed either, for example - and tires, I get to think about replacing them sometime soon-ish, etc…)
For at least 3 years, John has been “gonna get around to” fixing the front hub thing himself. But didn’t. We’ve talked about it plenty, but no movement.
Then a couple days ago, he says, “I talked to Drew (our neighbor for the last year or so) and he says you can bring your car to his shop on Monday morning and he’ll fix that part”
See the thing is - Andrea barely knew Drew’s name and definitely didn’t know he had a mechanic shop 🤓
On top of that, because we’re neighbors (aka because John ‘knows him’), he only charged labor for the hub, didn’t add anything for a serpentine belt that I tacked on and let us go buy the parts at cost.
Basically it added up to around 1/2 what I’d originally been quoted 4(!) years ago and was effortless.
When the timing was right 🤷🏻♀️
Now I can DoorDash (or not) to my body’s content.
It really does oddly suit me though - weird, eh? 🤓🙂
Who’da thunk it 🤷🏻♀️
