This one got right in past my grinchy Gate and pleasantly surprised me - unexpectedly :)
It’s a comment made on my post about the wearable art clothing line I finally got around to playing with (did I share that in here?)
M&A is short for Music and Art, which was short for Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for Music & the Arts.
It’s where I spent 9-12 grade as an art major.
Most years at least 4 of the 8 periods every day were spent in an art studio or art related studies of one kind or another.
It’s weird being friends with the people I was in school with then - I mean it was nearly 40 years ago now 👀, and true to having been a 1/3 projector all my life, I was on the edges of lots of groups, but haven’t stayed in touch with any of the people the way some have … lots of them have actually.
It was a really tight class - of maybe 400 students and I’m FB connected to must be over 100 of them.
So I know them, the same way I have for 44 years - from the edges.
It’s no wonder it always shocks me when one pops into a thread.
This guy, I sorta remembered his name, but that was it till I went investigating.
Anyway, it always takes me straight back to HS, where I was just one of several hundred art students and standing out in that pool was generally left to other folks. There was some amazing talent!
So a notice from this quarter is always a big surprise - and it’s recognition of the art that feels ‘extra true’ some how.
Funny that. :)
