Age is so relative - and most of it seems to be chock full of homogeneous ideas to me
Bumped into this on my FB Newsfeed ☺️
“Now that I’m 74, I’m wondering when outsiders will start thinking I’m OLD. Maybe I’m getting a hint of that.
When I went to the doctor, they wanted to know if I’ve fallen lately. Am I required to admit tripping over the dog leash? “Does your physical health interfere with your daily activities like bathing, getting dressed, and completing household tasks?” No….should I be looking forward to that?? “Can you feed yourself and navigate stairs?” Yes, last time I tried.
My eye doctor referred me to the Retina folks to check on a spot they’ve been watching. “Where are your restrooms?” “Up the ramp, do you remember?” Remember?? I don’t remember if I used your restroom last year. “Did your eye doctor do a field test last time?” “What is that?” “You’ll see a lot of dots and you have to click when you see one.” “I don’t remember if it was last time or the time before.” After a series of eye tests and different machines, I was led to another room with another machine. “Do you remember this machine?" I really don’t make a note of every contraption you have in here. “No, not really.” “Here you go…..(click, click, click). You are doing such a great job!” What do you mean??? I’m blinking when you tell me to blink and stop blinking when you tell me to stop blinking. “Thank you so much….you’ve been so patient.” I’m just sitt’in here with nowhere to go.
I love my ’99 Mercedes so I asked the repair guy if it makes sense for me to put another $7K into it. He wanted to know how much longer I plan to DRIVE! Mutter, mutter, mutter.”
