The ego does nothing for nothing
"I [Ra] once sold life insurance. And as a [Gate] 26 all you care about is selling it.
You don't care whether they live or die.
You don't care whether it's expensive for them or not, all you want to do is get the product out.
So, the lower trigram does not see the consequences of what it sells. It's only interested in its own ego reward.
And the ego does nothing for nothing.
The one thing you can never expect from the ego is altruism. That’s not its game.
The ego will only do something for reward.
Now, the rewards are different depending on where you are within the ego system, but to really understand that and to recognize that this is the basis of the tribe, the tribe is not going to change its allegiance unless it's in its interest to do so.
And it's only going to be in its interest to do so when there are consequences.
The greatest bullshit of all is the way in which we manipulate past history in order to get results in the future.
In the 26.2 ‘The Lessons of History’, The tribe is constantly being manipulated by the way in which history is manipulated or the way in which history is used.
You make an excuse out of something in your history in order to try to change the way in which to operate in the world.
But it is about the ego and its maturation through experience, or the ego not learning from experience.
Part of this has to do with the development within the ego of subtleties.
As you can see with the Sacral, when you're dealing with a motor; one of the most difficult things is that the subtlety of how you use its power, not blasting things out, not screaming it’s big when you could sort of just stretch it over time.
I’m a great storyteller, I love to tell stories. I see how natural it is, that over the years, stories have taken on a kind of mythic dressing.
They’re not distorted, they’re not even exaggerated. They just have a kind of something added to them.
All 26s have this gift of being able to package.
They’re packaging stuff for you. And when you package things for people you don't want them to see the rough edges.
It’s like the gift wrap over a present. Here’s the present, I’ll go away now.
Think about something - this is the thymus gland and the thymus gland designs our immune system. The T-cell is our greatest warrior within ourselves, protecting us from diseases and whatever.
It is healthy for society, it is healthy for tribal society, to have tricksters sell them refrigerators. They wouldn't have it any other way.
You see, they are also ego people. You think anybody wants to buy garbage when they can buy the best refrigerator?
They willingly recognise that they are being exaggerated to. But that's what you expect.
"My son's the best lawyer. My daughter's the best doctor." This is the tribe.
They don't tell you about the lawsuits. They don't tell you about the bankruptcies. They don't tell you about the repair bills.
They just tell you, "Here you go. We've got the best tribe. This is the best neighbourhood. I've got the best refrigerator. Broken right now, but I've got the best repairman."
The tribe loves that. "My cancer's worse than yours, and I've got better doctors. And I'm paying a hell of a lot more than you are. How much did it cost you...?"
This wonderful aspect of the ego tribe is that they love this - it makes them feel good.
If you don't exaggerate to the tribe, they don't feel good. "I'm selling you this piece of garbage. Please take it home. This refrigerator isn't very good and, you know, it's going to break in a couple of weeks." They don't want that.
Go to any used-car lot in a small town where your Uncle Harry or your friend's Uncle Harry is running the lot and they've got this $250 time bomb that they're saying, "Oh, it's great." This is the nature of the tribe - it's healthy."
