Human Design: Channels are Extraordinary
In a Human Design chart, a ‘channel’ is formed when two Gates meet, forming a continuous energy connection between two Centers.
Here’s a passage from Ra about the significance of channels.
I find myself being annoyed by two words he’s used - trust and danger.
He kind of bandied words like that about here and there - in his style of speaking, and they sometimes land funny for me in written form.
Danger especially - such a potentially loaded and misunderstood word 🤦🏻♀️
Anyway ... here we go :)
“Channels are really something that are extraordinary, they are really the bedrock of human design, it is through the channel that is through the definition of the channel that we come to what Is in fact type and strategy.
It is definition and ‘lack’ of definition in that sense that leads us to that.
Everything about human design begins and ends with the concept of definition.
What does it really represent?
The first thing to recognize about the nature of definition is that it is the only thing that you can actually trust.
If you think about the bodygraph as a circuit board, if you look at that circuit board and you see that ther eis a permanent connection between one center and another.
A permanent connection is going to be here throughout one’s life.
Every breath every day, every moment for the the rest of our life.
And it Is this consistency, this fixedness that is so essential for us because it becomes the one place that we can look to for a way in which we can reliably act in the world as ourselves because definition represents our fixed nature.
It is the hardwiring.
And at the moment that we go to that hardwiring and we trust in it what we are trusting in is ourselves.
So defiention is an essential ingredient…
In the basic binary of what it is to be, in the binary of the way in which we look at life itself in the context of human design, everything is about this and that.
The defined channel represents what we can call our nature.
Our nurture is what we receive as conditioning through our open centers, is the other side of the binary nature.
So channels are very significant.
[channels create defined centers - AG]
One of the great dangers is the assumption that if you add gate A and gate B that is the gates on either end of the channel and you sort of add their values together then a result is a meaning of the channel.
And so often when I listen to people who are relatively new to human design they will describe the channel but they will describe it only through the attributes of the harmonic gates of the opposing gates in the channel.
But the channel itself is unique in the way in which it functions…
They refer to what in our modern world we call quantum and quantum is very special.
Basically what the channel represents is that when gate A and gate B are actually in connection to each other is that they no longer exist.
That what exists is a whole that is larger than the sum of its parts. And that whole being larger than its sum of its parts is neither the A or the B but it is something else.
And it is this something else that makes the channel something so fascinating because the channel basically carries the life force.
It is a life-force this quantum field it is the same kind of lifeforce as the juxtaposition of Personality and Design and that the whole is larger than the sum of its parts .... is us ... and what we experience as our lives.”
