There’s all kinds of conditioning
Something I wrote on FB 3 years ago today -
You’ve maybe heard this story before. I tell it often.
When my brother, our three first cousins and I were growing up and spending school holidays together - all 5 of us would often pile into a car to go off on some adventure or other that my Aunt (my mother’s sister) had dreamt up.
And what felt like just as often (though I’m sure this is a bit of an exaggeration), at some point on our trips, the car would break down.
It was on these trips that I most clearly recall hearing the mantra, passed down from our Uncle Stanley (great Uncle to the 5 of us kids) …
One that I really recognize (psst- HD peeps he was a Projector!) as a value that’s guided and shaped who I am.
Aunt Sylvia: “You know what Uncle Stanley would say, don’t you?”
At least 3 of us in unison: “Adventure is inconvenience rightly considered”
Adventure is
Inconvenience
Rightly
Considered

Has served me so well.
So. Well.
A few minutes ago, Zane while trying his hand at steaming some Korean buns for the first time … we could smell the pot burning 🔥
Oops 🙊 not enough water!
After a few tense moments of sorting it out by adding water to the pot and much steam from the water instantly evaporating 🤦🏻♀️ …
He says, “well, that was an adventure” (😍)
That’s a 3rd generation forever touched by Great Uncle Stanley.
This Canva of an Earl Nightengale quote is cut from the same cloth.
