Feeling your feelings (especially for the Emo Defined in the room) ☺️
Had a Notself call with a splenic P yesterday that was lovely 😊
And one of the unexpected things that popped out was clarity around maybe ‘calming someone down’ isn’t always necessary or even correct (for the Emo defined person).
Was an interesting and totally unexpected lightbulb for the both of us really.
Of course, helping people regain composure would be interesting to the undefined solarplexus - the Notself dreads other people’s feelings.
And why not!
If you’re feeling them right along with the other and suffering, it only makes sense to want that. To think it’s the goalpost.
Society encourages this too - to get feelings sorted as soon as possible. But it doesn’t actually work that way. Waves do their wavy thing - regardless - no choice 😋
Not saying we can’t be a comfort to others - when invited. We absolutely can. But sometimes there’s a “to what end” involved.
For me anyway, a simple act of service (my love language), “can I get you something tasty?” (my PHS) and leave me ...
