My animal behavior mentor is surely rolling in his grave …
Little-known and possibly fun side-fact about Andrea … in college I was torn between Animal Behavior and Studio Arts for my continued study.
Some would say, so torn in fact that I, on a full-ride “minority student” scholarship, chose to quit instead. Or at least that’s a story that could be told.
Looking back, the truth might actually be, I was being distracted by the “here’s how you get out of this space where you’re not actually recognized as fast as possible”
In hindsight, digging in on the Animal Behavior side of things could have been the better path - if only because of the connection to Ray Coppinger (my Animal Behavior studies mentor) and his wife that was to never be expanded - because of me own fence-riding.
Tbh, all I wanted at that time was to get back to NYC to my then boyfriend … like it was a prime directive in my programming (stupid hormones lol 😂) … and I missed so many opportunities to know New England … and the Coppingers.
Here let me tie in a tiny bit of Human Design too …
It (life) all comes down to “must be present to win” … must be present to experience … whatever.
Our decisions made however they’re made, are correct for our Design or they aren’t.
And every single one has the potential to carry us to the right people/places, correct (for us) view/motivation… or not.
Looking back now, I can see that I was at a crossroads (making decisions from nowhere near my actual Design) and a new trajectory was born. Missed out on the Coppingers - one clear tragedy.
It’s funny that my commentary here is what it’s become. Hello open head 👋🏼 lol
Actually meant to just point to this New Discourses article (mostly for @Zavia because of a FB post she made yesterday about how ridiculous it is that we have to walk on eggshells around the offended these days in public discourse- - it’s that flavor anyway … maybe I find the link and post it in the comments)
This linked article is meant to expose the underbelly of the Critical Studies - insanity [my words] … and I’m fairly certain, the whole scene has Ray rolling in his grave.
Although, it would have possibly given him some sort of place in an (ironic) hierarchy to plant an even larger flag.
What a fucking mess. Honestly 🤦🏻♀️
To their extremes ideas like this taking hold are such an amazingly slippery slope.
No wonder systems are breaking down.
Imho - people entrenched in these sorts of studies could use some wilderness exposure or something.
Same for the CRT folks.
What if all these intellectually guided folks were tossed out into nature to fend for themselves - as a tribe to become unified, or not.
That’s a reality show I’d watch.
Oh wait, I already have - and it’s not Survivor (I watched a British version recently). Though maybe it’s time for that as well.
Seriously I rolled my eyes and guffawed and groaned my way through this article.
And all I have to say to all these Critical Theory people atm is …
“Real life is calling y’all and you’re missing it.”
Do appreciate the memories of the Coppingers though.
If only I’d been aware of my own Human Design at the time - the possibilities might have been more accessible to me - but wait, this chapter of my life began in the Fall of 1985.
Human Design didn’t emerge until 1987 🤷🏻♀️
Ah well :)
