Let’s talk about offers and how jargon, though sometimes necessary to learn, can quickly get in our way.
And the problem is - that just as soon as we have the vocabulary - we forget that it was a foreign language (and is still to the people we’re speaking to if we’re introducing new things) ... we can quite easily speak in ways that alienate rather than invite people to lean in.
I mean it’s a point of friction and resistance ... very few people want to look like they don’t know what they don’t know.
And so you miss an opportunity to share your message.
But it can take a lot of awareness NOT to fall into the jargon and buzzwords that go with whatever it is you’re talking about.
That’s one of the things I recognized early on and why I often encourage people to teach early and often so you capture and can remember some of the ways that a beginner communicates.
I remember the first time someone said to me - “so what’s your offer?”
We were talking about marketing funnel flow - gosh this must be 15 or more years ago ... he asked me that and I was like “ummm...
