My day got hijacked (& likely my next few weeks)
3 little peanuts were born in our backyard appx 3 weeks ago.
John heard them as they were mewing their heads off this morning.
So we unpacked the pile of posts and chicken wire that mama had chosen a space underneath of for them.
They’re just young enough to not have all that spit and fire in them quite yet.
So they were easy to collect.
Have never had a kitten this small to care for. 👀
I wish that mama were so agreeable, but she acts like she’s deaf whenever we cross paths and any move towards her, she bolts.
Convincing her to come care for them would be great, ‘cause then I wouldn’t have to figure out how to do that tonight.
We’ll still have to catch her to get her spayed (she can be released again after that) or, of course the cycle will continue - sigh.
Got ‘em bathed (oof the fleas 😛) and settled into a box Morgan and John made into a hamster utopia several years back from a large storage bin.
The last occupant was a rabbit someone needed a last minute babysitter for - I’m glad I saved it.
Jag is obviously enamored.
Chachi, less so (he’s turning his head away like if he pretends they’re not there, they’ll somehow disappear 😅)
And well, that’s what my 19/49 did with my entire afternoon 😜
Am hoping Aleda and Austin might take one in a couple weeks once they’re on solid food.
I’m sure Morgan will want to take one to her new apartment, but we suspect she’s allergic (she’s graduating on May 4th and thanks to her 4th line ways of moving, her BF just got an apartment leased for them in March) … it’s about an hour away.
Maybe we have new outdoor cats (litter boxes are definitely not my thing)
🤷🏻♀️
I seriously have no clue now. Wave must have its time.
Meanwhile body is doing what that 19/49 does, taking care of the needs of the tribe.
I’m just glad there’s not more of them.
