“That's what the 6th line is here to do. Yes, it goes through the turmoil, like everybody else, and they suffer deeply from that, and they go up onto that roof. But what we expect from them is to come back home, show us what all of this is about. " Show us because we're waiting for you, because we know you can be an objective witness of life. As an objective witness, you can guide us and point us in the right direction. We know that you are not going to be standing there pointing, but you're going to be walking with us."
In that comes great security. As long as the 6th line stays on the hill, the heretic is always in danger, even though the 6th line has told the village, " It's going to rain. It's okay. You build the arc." There is still doubt amongst all those, because they are saying, " Well, look, when are they going to come down? I mean here we are building this boat. How come they're up there. Aren't they nervous?" It's not complete.
But when that observer, who they respect and give authority to, comes down and is working real hard doing its job, there is no doubt about the heresy. However, if you do take the flavoured Kool-Aid and the spaceship doesn't come, I mean that's also part of this. The fact that somebody comes down off the roof and finds equilibrium doesn't mean that they are righteous and correct.
It doesn't. It means they are what they are. At least they are the real thing. It doesn't matter whether they are going to lead you down a narrow path or a blinding lane or to the glories of God and light, that's not the point. The point is that they themselves have to be there. That's all that matters.
The truth is that all 6th lines, in being awake in that part of their lives, have unusual influence over others just in terms of their aura. We want to see ourselves through our own eyes - that's what we all want. That's why we always want somebody to love us, look at us, and tell us about ourselves. We all want to be our own observer.
It's so deep inside of us. We all want to be ourselves creators, complete and whole within ourselves. We are here to be observers of ourselves - that's the ultimate passenger. In recognizing that as observers, life is happening. It's not that it stops while we are watching, that we can watch and be at the same time - that we can be the observer and the observed at the same time. That is mutation; that is being awake. Life is happening and you are watching. You are on the roof and in the world; you are neither and you are both. That's the whole point.”
