Little Boxes (of Homogenization)
I heard this sung by Pete Seeger when I was about 8 in a school gym somewhere in NYC.
Apparently now people recognize it as the song from a show called ‘Weeds’ (I watched the first episode and decided it’s not for me 😜)
Here’s the original artist singing it - worth the 2min click :)
Malvina Reynolds - 1961:
Lyrics are below should you want to sing along. That’s what I did. 🤭🙃
Let me explain …
I was reminded of the song last Monday while out driving with John - and we came to these houses along the way. The ones in the first 2 pictures.
[Btw, remembering this song is a perfect example of one of those random Right Mind data pulls - had not thought of it for nearly 50 years]
So we’re passing these houses and I say … “hey, it’s just like the song” … and John’s like ‘what song?’
So I proceed to sing it to him. Now he knows it too.
And so do you have the opportunity to have some more of the programming that I had growing up.
I got to thinking it’s stuff...
