Feeling Facebook Crazy? (here's 10 things that saved me)
Was having a chat earlier with one of the newest Planet Andrea supporters (yay new supporters, you are making this all possible!) about how Facebook can completely distract us from our intended paths.
Especially when we get caught up in conversation that we really aren't going to be getting anything but made crazy from.
Usually, the energy that takes isn't even just for that moment - there's a residual cost. And sometimes it's way more expensive than we even realize at first.
Pretty sure we've all been there. :-p
So anyway, thought I'd drop a few ideas in here about how I keep FB at bay.
Maybe something helps you going forward too :)
1. If you keep the app on your phone - definitely TURN OFF notifications. This one step alone saves me a ton of angst.
2. Also for the app - move the icon off your home screen.
3. A tip from @ChristyLangman lead me to using a browser extension called FB Newsfeed Eradicator - google it, it come in sever browser flavors and there's apparently apps for that too.
4. Create a bookmark bar shortcut that takes you to exactly the group or page you want to start on - so you can get in and out fast.
5. In the chat settings - turn off the ability to have the windows pop up
6. Also turn off that green dot that tells people you're online and "available" - you're not.
7. Leave scrolling for leisure time. And if you'd rather not spend your leisure time that way - don't.
8. Some people seem to work well with timers (possibly more for Left Minds or undefined egos? I dunno) ... all I know is I'm a master at turning off alarms. And that's about it.
9. Pretty much ALL of my time on FB is spent in one of two places - doing my "collective sharing thang" (two of my HD channels are collective) inside of FB groups that I enjoy <-- BIG point, if I'm not enjoying a group - forget it.
10. And the other place - where I make nearly all of my sales btw - is FB Messenger. I do leave messenger notifications TURNED ON - because that's money, although snoozing it could be smart - I haven't gotten wise that way ... yet. :)
So those are some ideas off the top of my head -
What's been working for you?
What could make it easier to use?
Or maybe not using it at all is in your future :)
