Thoughts on course creation & invitations
FB post this morning -
Someone asked (or has it been a couple of someones 🤔) whether I had any plans to teach what I’ve been doing with all this painting recently.
She suggested a video course.
Now I’m no stranger to offering recorded classes. Not at all. And it was amusing to watch my Mind want to say all the usual things.
Especially “but I’m just a beginner, so many people know more than me”
And “but it’s already all over YouTube 🤔”
Both of those things ARE true.
I’m about 6 weeks into this dot painting adventure.
And it is all over the interwebs.
But honestly, I know better. And I’ve been guiding people away from that Mind chatter for at least 15 years now.
Mostly in the online marketing and related tech realm… but it’s literally the same thing.
Learned this first hand when I was teaching people “how to” Wordpress, it wasn’t like there wasn’t SO MUCH already available to follow along … and I surely wasn’t an expert with all the answers.
But still, they wanted it from me.
Spotted this [screenshot] in a group for beginner dot art people. It’s a group of 78k 👀 with lots of freely shared info and short how to videos.
Great reminder that it doesn’t matter how many other people have already “done a thing” … there’s always people who need it delivered from who and in the way that’s ideal for them.
Will I teach what I don’t even recognize I’ve learned? 🤷🏻♀️
Dude … Right Mind here … where would I begin.
And undefined ego - long over (well years anyway) making promises… or scheduling pretty much anything.
Not gonna lie though - something in person could be fun.
Did already start imagining how that could be organized and happen efficiently (hello 17/62 and Gate 43 🙃😋) and in a way that everyone would have all the things they need right at their fingertips (19/49 is alive and well in me big time)
I think those thoughts started with the bag of many (too many lol) tiny paint pots that I (3rd line style) ordered from Amazon.
And then I think (Open Head) things like - ooh now how fun might it be to do something like that mixed with Human Design conversation.
But in person.
Oh how the hours might fly by 😍
A retreat weekend perhaps 🤔
The in Projectors in Business I added -
Important reminder 🤗
And I think I’ll add an important detail here. A projector friendly one.
The original gal who said “video course” … I asked, “is it me you especially wanted to learn from?”
Because “you should make a course” is not an actual (fully ripened) invitation.
Now if she says “yes, and I’m buying it as soon as you’re selling it” to that question …
Or “yeah, actually I would love to fly you out to teach me in person.”
Or “yes, in fact I have a group of people I’d like to do it with and I know you can guide us”
Etc …
okay sweet, THAT is an invitation with recognition.
Now my Authority (emo in my case) has something to chew on. Doesn’t mean it’s gonna say yes, but it’s worth consideration (energy).
And STILL … when/if I get a yes… I’d (personally) be selling the “do it live with me while I record it” version before ever lifting a finger on the content.
Because making a course and then trying to sell it - to me, while quite the usual way of doing things…
Imho is backwards.
