Submission (as a trigger word)
So lately, I’ve been watching (binging) on the channel and content of a guy named Kevin Samuels, an image consultant and coach by most recent trade - who, after 3 years of talking to men on YouTube with minimum traction, has shot into the stratosphere in the last year or so since he switched his format to be talking to women.
It’s a controversial topic.
He’s basically telling black women - via a call in show format (he goes live for 2 hours every weekday night I think) that they’re out of order, will never get what they say they want if they don’t make changes, that they’re running out of time and are likely to die alone if they don’t take action.
In other words…
He’s blunt. A little sloppy in his arguments at times. Definitely fat-averse personally (this is a vaccination side note). The content he’s making is not “For” women first, we aren’t his main target audience, which has been fascinating to wrap my mind around. He’s also not wrong in most of his observations imho.
And the women who show up prove his point. Over and over and over again.
I’m learning a lot, just by watching him do his thing. Like SO much.
But that’s for another post or zoom or something maybe -
THIS post is about one of the words/phrases that he uses quite a bit - the concept of a woman who wants to be a wife must be willing to “submit to a man”
Which I think, instantly triggers PTSD in people who’ve had that be a value put on them through the dogma of religious beliefs.
And possibly had it used as a Power concept against them and their - I’ll just say it - notself Centers.
Sometimes even physically violently perhaps, but for those with an undefined solar plexus, for example - the suffering wouldn’t even have to be physical (though it could manifest itself through the body, eh?)
Any suppression of who we are has this potential imho.
But I digress - back to what brings me to be posting this.
I’ve been following this one religion specific IG account and a few political ones since last Summer. Haven’t been on IG much so I only occasionally have seen what’s being posted - different story today.
[noticing just this second that selective following per IG account might pre-curate excellent content for sharing that’s for specific audiences hmm interesting and maybe worth being intentional about starting now - just like my FB feed … I unfollow so much and have even turned it off on my laptop]
Back to the point here.
Submission. I’ve seen how it can be a negative concept.
This comic and the explanation of it on this post, I think speaks to why.

Curious to hear how that lands.
Submission in the way Kevin Samuels is using it, I’ve come to understand after listening to hours and hours of his content - is something similarly dressed on the outside and nothing like it actually.
I wonder if this might be a Secret Beliefs zoom-worthy topic at some point 🤔
Interesting? Or no? 🧐
There’s so much potential meat here. 👀
